The Foundations of FC Barcelona and "La Caixa" savings bank have signed an agreement to promote volunteer activities in favour of underprivileged collectives.
The president of FC Barcelona and the Fundació FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta; and the executive
director of the Social Work division of "la Caixa" and general manager of the Fundació "la Caixa",
Josep Francesc de Conrado, have officially presented the agreement between the two organisations.
This agreement will help underprivileged people to enjoy certain advantages thanks to voluntary
work.
Affected collectives
This agreement will provide aid to certain disadvantaged collectives, which include people
with different types of disability (either physical, sensorial and mental), marginal groups and
those at risk of social exclusion, and also dependant elderly people. The aim of both organisations
is to be able to carry out a series of activities for the benefit of these people that they would
otherwise not be able to enjoy.
Among the activities that "la Caixa" volunteers will be helping with are several related to
FC Barcelona: accompanying groups on visits to the club sports facilities, guiding them around the
Barça Museum, seeing how the young players at La Masia are progressing or watching the different
Barça sports teams in action.
More than a club
The president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta, has said that this agreement will help Barça to
be more than a club “also around the world”. He commented that this agreement will be
an instrument for “projecting the image of Catalans around the world,” because both FC
Barcelona and "la Caixa" are two of the most representatives organisations of Catalonia.
