Barça one more year with Catalan literature

The Camp Nou press room was the venue at midday for the presentation of the 3rd edition of the “Lletres al camp!” campaign, to support Catalan literature by exploiting Barça’s capacity for attraction in the build up to the Sant Jordi celebrations.

The activity is organised by the Fundació del Futbol Club Barcelona and Institució de les Lletres Catalanes, and will take place at the Camp Nou on occasion of the FC Barcelona v Mallorca match on April 15. All those attending will receive an information sheet proposing a series of the most recommended works of Catalan literature.

The ‘Dream Team’ of Catalan prose

“Lletres al camp!” is a tribute to some of the most critically acclaimed and best selling books of the last few months. Eleven books which cover a wide range of genres, from novels, to stories to poetry. “One of possible ‘dream teams’ of literature” was how the councillor for Culture and the Media, Joan Manel Tresserras, put it during the presentation. Catalan literature’s first eleven is a veritable list of must-reads, many of which have received such accolades as the Nacional de la Literatura, Premi de la crítica espanyola and the Premi Joan Creixells, among many others that have recognised the talents of the eleven authors whose works will be taking centre stage on April 15.
The presentation was hosted by councillor for Culture and the Media Joan Manuel Tresserras, first vice president of FC Barcelona Albert Vicens, FC Barcelona director Clàudia Vives-Fierro and the director of the Institució de les Lletres Catalanes Oriol Izquierdo.
